Software engineering has three unambiguous A* venues — ICSE, FSE and ASE — with ISSTA and ICSME close behind for testing and maintenance work. Research-track acceptance rates sit around 20%, and most now operate a two-round review with an author response.

The field's B and C tiers are unusually broad, covering requirements, architecture, empirical methods and process. Programming languages venues sit under theory rather than here.
